Let's not forget to add some type of patio surface, hearth wall, lighting & planting around your new fireplace. Throw in some irrigation for your plants and possibly an electrical outlet for your lighting transformer.

Those are just a couple of decisions that need to be made before your outdoor fireplace is built. However, as many things as there are to think about at this stage, I have some really good news for you......

You have just found a company that specializes in all aspects of your outdoor fireplace experience. Designing and building landscapes since 1992, we have all the experience necessary to turn your ideas into reality.

Drainage We start with one of the most crucial elements to any landscaping project, Drainage.  Taking proper grade shots, examining your property's contour and taking into consideration the water flow from adjoining properties are all items that will be addressed at the initial consultation. Proper burial or rerouting of existing downspouts helps to complete your overall drainage solution.

Base Construction for the first step, we analyze your soil conditions so we can better determine exactly how your fireplace base will be constructed. Wet or damp conditions usually require a bit more attention than the common red clay soils found in this area. Luckily, we're in a part of the country with minimal freeze/thaw cycles. Our base doesn't have to be dug 3' below grade as it does in the northern climates. Our frost line may approach 3" and that is good news for our potential clients.

Keep in mind that deeper excavation = more time and more building materials which in turn = you guessed it....more money.

This doesn't mean, however, that we cut any corners on our base construction. Since an average sized outdoor fireplace will have an enormous amount of weight, our concrete pad averages 10" of concrete with several 12" wide x 18" deep piers below the pad. All of these components are tied together with 1/2" rebar to provide an immovable base. All of our hearth wall bases average 6" of concrete and are fortified with wire mesh and or rebar.

Now that these two important items are behind us, we can start the exciting part. CONSTRUCTION OF YOUR FIREPLACE.

At this point in the project, your backyard is a mess. Sand and soil may be stockpiled nearby and pallets of stone, cinder blocks, and mortar are ready to use.

As our experienced team of masons start construction, everything quickly falls into place. You now realize that in a very short time, you will be enjoying your new investment. During the design process, we have decided on the proper location, overall design of your fireplace and which type of stone will be used. In addition, all other facets of the project (planting, lighting, irrigation, patio, and walls) have been discussed, priced, and are hopefully being implemented. As your outdoor fireplace rises out of the ground, you will appreciate all of the planning and attention to detail that our company provides.
